HoneyLa Community Art Space

July 2017 - January 2019
Celo, North Carolina

"HoneyLa" was first the name of an art space for teens my friends and I were designing. We quickly realized we wanted it to be for all ages. Tayloranne Finch and I went in on renting a space at the Shops at Celo to turn into HoneyLa Community Art Space. We had enormous community support, with 30 volunteers on our first work party day, and almost all the materials, furniture, art, time, labor, food provided throughout its duration was donated. So much occurred there it is hard to summarize. Indeed, a plan to shape footage into a film is in gestation.

Meanwhile, here's a menagerie of moments from HoneyLa, to give you a taste of the magic she contained in her belly. If you have any questions about the story or process, or if you have any footage/documentation you'd like to contribute to a film, please contact me!
